LED engine enables automotive headlight solution

The PSi C-Scale LED engine is a disruptive technology for high brightness LED applications. It caters to the growing demand of reliable, energy efficient LED lighting solutions in a unique way.

The C-Scale LED engine is the only solution available using only bare copper to conduct heat away from the LED and, at the same time, enable the electrical connectivity of anode and cathode of the LED using highly automated semiconductor assembly processes.

The C-Scale engine defines high brightness on top of the current scale. A 90lm/W light output has been achieved using standard HB LEDs and standard AL heat-sink and cooling fans. The correlated junction temperature of the LEDs hasn't exceeded 100°C.

A 14,000lm engine with 36 LEDs and 100W electrical energy [power] input has been successfully tested in the PSI Development laboratory. Also, here junction temperature below 100°C has been achieved.

The engine is easily adaptable to customer specific requirements in terms of light output, thermal interface material and heat-sink requirements. Even mechanical mounting features, electrical connectivity and corrosion protection can be integrated.

Initial market segments to be targeted are projectors (pico and UHP bulb replacement), outdoor lighting (architectural, traffic, Flood lighting) and automotive lighting (head lights).
