It took several years of intense development efforts but it was all worth it as Shanghai now gasconades the most complete IC industrial chain in China with wafer foundries; IC design houses; assembly and test companies; and device and material firms.

But is any one of them making any return on investment Most of these companies are making heavy losses and forcing global prices down. They are behind many of the headlkine problems of our industry and will probably result in massive underinvestment and future supply problems Any comments

I think these companies, losing money or otherwise, have made their point. China design companies in the long term will be a force to reckon with. It is just a matter of when, how and what.
