The first commercial deployment of Alcatel-Lucent's WiMAX technology in North America will be in California. The company announced that it has been selected by Craig Wireless Systems Ltd to build a network based on the IEEE 802.16e-2005 (Rev-e) WiMAX standard in Palm Springs.

Craig wireless has earlier used Nortel mobile WiMAX solution to deliver services in Greece. This was initiially implemented as a fixed wimax solution and subsequently upgraded to IEEE 802.16e and MIMO compliant one. http://www.wimax-home.com
