Atmel officials can't say they didn't have enough time to turn around the company. For years, the company struggled with poor revenue growth like most its competitors in the MCU, mixed-signal and ASIC markets.

Hello - Since when has a ceo acted on behalf of shareholders. Which planet are you living on? On top of that Laub is nothing but a private equity guy who uses leverage to make a quick buck. AT a 50% premium he has an obigation to sell. He is in wilfull breach of fiduciary and clearly also negligent. What has he done the past two years. If he blames others, why did he take the job. The reality is that these guys think the job is easy after an MBA and when they are investors and don't have to actually run anything or sell any product or build any products. This is a classic situation where the manager screws the shareholders and enriches himself.

Well in this case it looks like Steve Sanghi is acting on behalf of his shareholders. :)

Please note that this company is profitable. Only not enough for some people. The way to improve it :"It's expected that Microchip and ON Semi would move quickly to slash Atmel's costs, especially its R&D expenses" Thanks for the guys in Norway and France whose jobs will soon be redundant. Thanks for thoses (like me) who appreciate the innovative products, because less R&D means... well, fewers new products. May be just one line (PIC or AVR ?)
