Any reader who believed all the recent headlines would feel confident that the WiMAX market is being crushed by LTE. Nortel and Alcatel-Lucent were reported to have 'backed off' from WiMAX. But that's not quite the whole story.

Do you think LTE is crushing WiMAX? Or does WiMAX still has the support of industry heavyweights? Whose side are you on?

Judging by the number of networks being deployed, I would argue that the opposite is true. More than a hundred to zero sounds like a crushing defeat in any game or sport I know of. Now, back to work...

No Comparison at all. LTE is a complete mobile technology targeting over 100 Megs at an speed of 200Km/Hr. While WiMax has yet to gain the label of "Mobility".

UWB has more bandwidth than WiFi, but is dying because it seems to be unable to deploy before WiFi makes it irrelevant. LTE may be a superior technology (sort of like like Betamax?), but if it does not get into the field it doesn't matter. As to 200km/hr, unless you are talking aircraft, skydivers or superheros, most paying consumers don't care about anything over 150km/hr for most of their daily lives. WiMax is on the ground, and making progress on handoff. Real world deployment experience matures a technology much faster than development vendor hype.
