Google files laser keyboard patent

Project Glass is a research and development program by Google to develop an augmented reality head-mounted display. One of the challenges developers are expected to face is how users will be able to communicate with the device in noisy environments or when trying to create and send long messages.

A keyboard projected on the hand, essentially making our own body a touch screen, seems to be Google's answer. A new patent application filed today shows a version of glass that includes a laser projector in the arm of the glasses.

The patent describes a use in which the glasses' camera interprets a user's gestures, so that they can accept input both via tapping virtual keys and by moving the hand.
