Google has applied a patent for low-profile lens camera, an imaging device incorporating an image sensor and an array of wafer lenses.
The patent's pricipal claim appears to be the approach of focusing image light by a lens onto an image sensor, and how lenses in a wafer lens array could be configured to focus image light onto sensor subsections of an image sensor.
