In Hong Kong, an AI overseer manages and schedules the nightly engineering work on the country's subway system MTR, and deploys human engineers accordingly--doing so "more efficiently than any human could."
The AI is an algorithm designed by Andy Chun of Hong Kong's City University. A simulated model of the subway system is revealed on a huge screen with the AI running processes to find the best schedule, options for sharing resources, and possibilities for combining work.
Chun said that the distinguishing difference between his AI and other softwares is that the AI integrates human knowledge acquired through years of experience in the field.
