What is programmable hardware?
Programmable hardware generally refers to chip- or platform-level hardware comprising programmable logic blocks, arranged in one of three main types of architecture: programmable logic device (PLD), complex PLD (CPLD) and field programmable gate array (FPGA). Other devices that are programmable include microcontrollers and digital signal processors (DSPs) that may be used to implement systems with varying degrees of functional programmability.
